Congratulations to our incredible doll knitters. Early in November, the knitters completed their 20,000 comfort doll. Most of the dolls go to Operation Christmas Child where they are added as “stuffies “ to the thousands of shoeboxes that go out around the world to bring joy and hope to children living in poverty, disease, war or disaster.

In addition to knitting dolls, for years, our Seniors have recognized the “power of the group” in getting behind Operation Christmas Child. Every November, we have a shoebox “stuffing party”. Individuals bring their loose items, which we pool together and have fun filling OCC shoeboxes. Our “engineers” assemble the boxes, our “stuffers” fill them with an assortment of items and finally our finishers put in cards, add labels and finishing touches. This year, our Seniors group did 92 shoeboxes.

And, it doesn’t stop there. Every year (often twice a year), our Seniors also send a team to the Operation Christmas Child warehouse to work a shift. This year, our Seniors team will be heading up there on November 24.
