Our SCCC International Choir ministers bi-weekly in our Sunday AM English-language service from September to May. The choir is open to all singers grade 9 to age 99. Previous choral experience is not required. The only requirement is faithful attendance at rehearsals. These take place on Tuesday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm. Besides leading in our worship services, the choir often presents seasonal musical productions at Christmas, Easter, and at other times throughout the year.
Worship Team Singers
Worship team singers lead in our services on a rotating basis (usually once per month). Worship team participation requires a commitment to musical and spiritual development. Worship team positions are filled on an audition basis. Choir participation is strongly encouraged, but not required. Current rehearsal times are on Tuesday evenings
This group provides instrumental leadership for our worship services on a rotating basis. Instruments regularly employed are drums, auxiliary percussion, bass, electric and acoustic guitar, synthesizer and piano. Brass, woodwind and string instruments are also utilized periodically. Worship band positions are filled on an audition basis. An intermediate level of musical development, including some music reading skills, is required for participation in this group. Our bands rehearse on Tuesday evenings.
Special Music & Dance
Our worship ministry seeks to utilize the gifts of many different people. Soloists, ensemble members, and even dancers are an important part of our worship ministry. Individuals with an interest in sharing special music or dance should make an appointment with the worship department to discuss this.
Our ushers are an important part of welcoming people and helping them feel a part of our services. Ushers serve on a rotating basis about once a month. Usher team leaders & coordinators have special leadership roles in this ministry.
Dramatic reading and sketches are periodically utilized in our services. Special, seasonal dramatic productions are also sometimes presented at Christmas and Easter. Though helpful, previous dramatic experience is not required for participation in this ministry. Support team’s co-ordinate and sew costumes, build sets, paint scenery, set and operate lights, and help backstage during special dramatic productions.
Sound ministry volunteers run and co-ordinate sound in our services on a rotating basis. This role requires rehearsal time with our musicians and before and after services perfecting the craft. A musical ear is a significant asset in this role.
Media & Lighting Ministry
These ministries incorporates visual arts through lyrics, image projection, video, special effects and room lighting. Volunteers serve on a rotating basis in various capacities such as media builders, media computer operators, lights operators, and occasionally, camera operators.
Communion Preparation Team
Team members prepare communion elements for our Sunday services on a rotating basis abut once a quarter.
Worship Office Volunteers
These individuals give of their time on a regular basis to assist with worship ministry office administration. This involves tasks such as cataloging, sorting, and filing music, organizing ministry data, and telephoning. Hours are crafted around each volunteer’s availability. Weekday availability is a big asset in this role.
